Privacy notice
Who we are
This website is run by H & C (Plant Hire) Limited, registered in England and Wales, company number 03666940, VAT reg. no. GB 678 2210 28. Registered office: Bredbury Parkway, Bredbury, Stockport, Cheshire, SK6 2SN. We are part of the Westgate Group. We are the controller of the personal information described here.
For any privacy question or request, email hire@hcplanthire.co.uk or call 0161 224 4804.
What we collect
When you send us an enquiry, we collect what you type into the form:
- Callback request: your name and phone number, and optionally your email address and the machine you need.
- Quote request: your name and phone number, and optionally your company, email address, the machine and type of hire, how long you need it, start date, site postcode and job details.
- Contact form: your name, email address and message.
You don't have to give us any of these details, but we need a phone number or email address to be able to reply to you.
We also record which page of our website you sent the enquiry from, and the date and time.
Please don't include payment details or sensitive personal information, such as health details, in your message.
When you visit the site, our hosting provider automatically processes basic technical details, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site, keep it secure and stop misuse of our forms.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To answer your enquiry and prepare a quote. If you're asking about hiring from us, we use your details to take the steps you've asked for before a possible contract. For other enquiries, we rely on our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us.
- To keep the website secure and working, including limiting how many enquiries can be sent in a short time. This is our legitimate interest in running a safe website.
We don't sell your information, we don't use it for marketing, and we don't make automated decisions about you.
Who else handles it
We only share your information with companies that help us run the website and deliver your enquiry to us. They act on our instructions:
- Vercel Inc. hosts the website. Enquiries are processed on its servers in London.
- Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.) delivers website enquiries to our inbox. It keeps a copy of each enquiry email for 30 days, then deletes it.
- Microsoft provides our email system (Microsoft 365), where enquiries are received and kept.
If the website fails to pass on an enquiry, an error-monitoring service, Sentry (Functional Software, Inc.), alerts us from its servers in the EU. It is told only that a form failed to send, which form and page it was on, and why. It receives none of your details.
If you choose to load the map on our Contact page, Google handles your information under its own privacy policy (see Cookies below).
We don't share your enquiry with other companies, including other Westgate Group companies, unless you ask us to.
Some of these providers are based in, or store data in, the United States. Where that happens, your information is protected by safeguards recognised under UK law, such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework (the "UK–US data bridge") or standard contractual clauses with the UK Addendum.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that don't lead to a hire are deleted after 2 years. If you hire from us, your details become part of our customer records and are kept for as long as needed for our accounts and legal obligations. Our email delivery provider deletes its copy after 30 days. Hosting logs are kept for a short period by our hosting provider.
Cookies
Our website doesn't set any cookies and doesn't store anything on your device.
The maps on our Contact page are provided by Google, which sets its own cookies. The maps only load if you click to show them. Until then, no information is sent to Google.
Our fonts are stored on our own website, so no information is sent to font providers.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or send it to you in a portable format. Email or call us using the details above. We'll reply within one month. There's normally no charge.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO): ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or 0303 123 1113.
