Social Values at Westgate Group

Westgate Group is a family of businesses built on strong values and long-standing relationships. We care about what we do and just as much about how we do it.

We’re proud to play a positive role, not just in the industries we serve, but in the communities we’re part of. That means offering people valuable opportunities, treating our teams with respect, supporting our customers and local partners, and doing what we can to reduce our environmental impact. This is what social value means to us: showing up for people, place, and planet in ways that actually make a difference.

Delivering Impact Where It Matters Most

Key Social Value Achievements

We track our social value activity across three key stakeholder groups: Communities, Environmental Responsibility, and Employees. Our achievements reflect the long-term commitment of a group of businesses working together to support people, place, and progress — wherever we work.

Environmental Responsibility

Across the group, we’ve worked to reduce emissions, cut waste, and lower our energy use — not just in one area, but wherever we can make a difference. We’ve continued to invest in better technology and systems that help us work more efficiently while reducing our environmental impact. Whenever possible, we’ve also embraced smarter, more circular ways of working, recycling, refurbishing, and managing resources more responsibly.

What We’ve Done

  • Installed solar panels on two buildings to generate renewable energy on-site.
  • Reached 80% electric car fleet adoption.
  • Introduced a paperless office system for hire and invoice processing.
  • Recycled water through rain harvesting systems for machinery cleaning and wash-down facilities.
  • Continued refurbishment of plant and equipment to extend life and minimise replacement.
  • Supplied electric plant for zero-emission operation in sensitive environments.
“We’re committed to making a meaningful contribution and always looking to improve.”
06 Our future

Our Social Value Priorities Going Forward

As we move forward, our focus is on deepening the impact of everything we’re already doing, turning good intentions into outcomes that matter for real people. That means listening more closely, acting more purposefully, and staying committed to doing the right thing across all areas of our work.

“What we do next matters most. Social value isn’t just about what we’ve done; it’s about staying present, listening, and continuing to show up where it counts. That’s how real change happens.”

We’re especially focused on:

  • Growing apprenticeship opportunities and skills development across all parts of the business.
  • Making wellbeing a priority, including better support for mental health and more flexible working options.
  • Building stronger partnerships with schools, charities, and local organisations.
  • Investing further in low-emission equipment, sustainable materials, and carbon-saving initiatives.
  • Improving how we track, measure and share our social value impact with employees, customers, suppliers and the wider community.
  • Supporting our clients to meet their own social value goals through collaboration and innovation.
“Our goal is simple: to keep building a business that puts people first, creating lasting value for our employees, customers, communities, and the environment.”
